Welcome! If you're here, it means you're ready for a for a Core Powered Life.
I believe that core values are not just words on paper—they are powerful tools that can help solve problems and drive success. The Core Values Flywheel is a simple yet effective five-step process for making the most of your values in any situation.
Celebrate: Recognize the progress and efforts you’ve already made.
Values: Review and connect with your core values.
Goals: Clarify what you’re trying to achieve.
Plans: Develop a strategy by asking core-value-driven questions, such as: “What are our core values, and how can we use them in this situation?” and “Which core value is missing or could be elevated here?”
Action: Implement the plan and take action in alignment with your values.
Your company or team can use the flywheel in three ways. The first is the easiest, and the third requires more commitment but produces the most significant impact.
Use Your Existing Core Values: Continue using your current set of corporate values. By applying the Flywheel process, you can use these values more consistently and intentionally to solve problems and achieve goals.
Refine Your Core Values to Three: Streamline your core values down to three key ones. This simplifies the decision-making process and makes it easier for everyone to connect with and apply values in their daily work.
Empower Employees to Use Personal Core Values: The most impactful approach is to empower employees to operate from their personal core values. While using the Core Values Flywheel, individuals will rely on what is deeply important to them. For this approach to work, the company needs a clear mission and well-defined goals so everyone is aligned and moving in the same direction.
Increased Innovation: When employees are empowered to align with their values and take action, they become more creative problem solvers. The Flywheel encourages them to approach challenges from a values-driven perspective, sparking new ideas and approaches.
Decreased Burnout: Operating from core values gives employees a deeper sense of purpose and fulfillment. The Flywheel's focus on celebration and values helps reduce stress, prevent burnout, and foster a healthier, more motivated workforce.
Streamlined Training and Management: With the Flywheel process, onboarding and management become more efficient. Employees understand the importance of core values and how to apply them in daily decision-making, reducing the need for micromanagement and speeding up the training process.

Let's be honest - People don't believe in core values. For most, core values are more marketing than meaningful.
I used to think the same way. But everything changed when I figured out how to tap into my core self.
By clarifying and using your core values (personal and corporate), you solve problems and achieve goals faster and with less effort.
I'm on a mission to turn core value statements from ignorable to impactful so people can achieve more with less stress.
Have a great day, and I hope to talk soon.

You aren't the problem
In the places where you struggle, you simply don't have enough practice being yourself.
To create confidence, compassion, assertiveness, grit or determinations, the secret is being more of yourself in more places. Not trying to be something you aren't because that is exhausting.
When you a NOT being your core self, you are being something you are not which is exhausting and frustrating, and leads to isolation and burnout.
When you being your core self, your confidence, creativity, and courage increases so you connect with others to find solutions that work over time.

The discussion I had with Joey opened my eyes to the notion of purpose that I never suspected was a necessity to have as a writer. We only talked for an hour but now I have a new focus and start working on a project that I have been struggling with for 6 years. I'm so excited.

Imagine you're building a house without a blueprint. You have all the materials and skilled workers, but without a clear plan, the project stalls, and mistakes are inevitable. This scenario mirrors how business owners and entrepreneurs manage contractors and employees without a well-defined core process. Understanding your core process is crucial for conveying your vision, setting expectations, and achieving efficiency without micromanagement.
Understanding Your Core Process
Your core process is the unique, repeatable steps you naturally follow to achieve goals. It’s how you utilize your strengths and values at your best. When you understand this process, you can develop a clear and consistent way of working that is easy to communicate to your team.
Ken Blanchard, author of The One Minute Manager, emphasizes, "The key to successful leadership is influence, not authority." By leveraging your core process, you can effectively influence your team and guide them toward your vision without resorting to dictatorial tactics.
Developing a Clear Way of Working
Knowing your core process helps you establish a consistent working method that your team can easily understand and follow. Here’s how:
Clarity in Vision and Expectations: When you are clear about your core process, you can articulate your vision and expectations more effectively. This clarity ensures that your team knows exactly what is required and why it matters. As Stephen Covey said, "Begin with the end in mind."
Consistency in Communication: A well-defined core process provides a consistent framework for communication. This reduces the need for extensive back-and-forth discussions, saving time and minimizing misunderstandings. George Bernard Shaw famously noted, "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." Clear processes help ensure that the message is truly understood.
Empowerment through Autonomy: Understanding your core process allows you to delegate tasks confidently, knowing that your team understands the underlying principles and goals. This empowers your team to take initiative and make decisions, reducing the need for constant oversight. As Daniel Pink, author of "Drive," explains, "Control leads to compliance; autonomy leads to engagement."
Efficient Management of Contractors and Employees
Implementing your core process in managing contractors and employees leads to efficient and harmonious working relationships. Here’s how it works in practice:
Onboarding and Training: Create structured onboarding and training programs using your core process. When new team members understand your way of working from the start, they can integrate more smoothly and quickly into your operations.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Document your core process in SOPs that your team can refer to. This ensures consistency in how tasks are performed and decisions are made, reducing the need for repetitive explanations and corrections.
Regular Check-Ins and Feedback: Schedule regular check-ins that focus on alignment with the core process rather than micromanaging specific tasks. Provide feedback that reinforces your process and helps your team improve within that framework.
Consequences of Ignoring Your Core Process
Neglecting to align your team with your core process can lead to several issues:
Misalignment and Confusion: Without a clear process, your team may struggle to understand your vision and expectations, leading to confusion and misalignment in their efforts.
Increased Frustration and Inefficiency: Frequent back-and-forth communication and constant corrections can frustrate you and your team, leading to inefficiency and wasted time.
Micromanagement Tendencies: Without a clear core process, you may feel compelled to micromanage, which can stifle creativity and autonomy and reduce overall team morale and productivity.
Leveraging Your Core Process for Effective Leadership
Articulate Clearly: Regularly communicate your core process and ensure your team understands its importance and application. This fosters a shared sense of purpose and direction.
Create Reference Materials: Develop guides and documentation that outline your core process. This will provide a consistent reference point for your team and reduce the need for repeated explanations.
Foster a Culture of Trust: Trust your team to follow the core process and give them the autonomy to execute tasks. This trust builds confidence and encourages proactive problem-solving.
Conclusion
Understanding and leveraging your core process is essential for getting the most out of contractors and employees. It allows you to convey your vision and expectations, reduce unnecessary communication, and empower your team to work autonomously. By fostering a culture of trust and consistency, you can lead effectively without being a dictator, ensuring your business runs smoothly and efficiently. Embrace your core process, and watch your team thrive under your guidance.
