I believe that core values are not just words on paper—they are powerful tools that can help solve problems and drive success. The Core Values Flywheel is a simple yet effective five-step process for making the most of your values in any situation.

The Five Steps of the Core Values Flywheel:

  1. Celebrate: Recognize the progress and efforts you’ve already made.

  2. Values: Review and connect with your core values.

  3. Goals: Clarify what you’re trying to achieve.

  4. Plans: Develop a strategy by asking core-value-driven questions, such as: “What are our core values, and how can we use them in this situation?” and “Which core value is missing or could be elevated here?”

  5. Action: Implement the plan and take action in alignment with your values.

Three Ways to Use the Core Values Flywheel:

Your company or team can use the flywheel in three ways. The first is the easiest, and the third requires more commitment but produces the most significant impact.
